How Long Will a Fridge Run on a 1000Wh Power Station?
A typical 150W mini fridge will run for about 5.5 hours of continuous compressor draw on a 1,000Wh power station — but because fridges cycle on and off, real-world runtime is usually 14 to 18 hours. A full-size Energy Star fridge averages roughly 1.5–2 kWh per day, so a 1,000Wh unit covers about half a day of normal use.

The Math, Worked Out
Formula: (Battery Wh × 0.85) ÷ Device watts = Runtime hours
Battery: 1000 Wh
Usable after 15% inverter loss: 850 Wh
Mini fridge running draw: 150 W
(1000 × 0.85) ÷ 150 = 5.7 hours of continuous compressor draw.
Compressors run roughly 30–40% of the time (the duty cycle), so multiply continuous runtime by 2.5–3 to get real-world hours: ~14 to 17 hours.
Variables That Affect the Answer
- Ambient temperature. A fridge in a 95°F garage runs nearly twice as often as one in a 70°F house. Hot environments can cut runtime in half.
- Cycling pattern. Door openings, warm food going in, and freezer demand all force the compressor on. A fridge that's left closed and full will sip power.
- Fridge age and efficiency. A 2024 Energy Star unit uses 30–50% less power than a 2010 model. Mini fridges range from 60W to 200W running.
- Battery chemistry and age. LiFePO4 holds its rated capacity longer than NMC. A 3-year-old NMC pack may deliver only 80% of label capacity.
- Surge load on startup. Older fridges spike to 1,500–2,000W for half a second. The power station must have enough surge headroom or it will trip.
Recommended 1000Wh-Class Power Stations for a Fridge
Three units we've tested at the ~1,000Wh capacity point. All have the surge headroom and continuous output a fridge compressor demands.
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2
1,070Wh · 1,500W · 3,000W surge
LiFePO4 with the largest surge headroom in its class — comfortable margin for older fridge compressors.
Anker SOLIX C1000
1,056Wh · 1,800W · 2,400W surge
Best value in the 1,000Wh tier. 28 lbs, 58-minute charge, 5-year warranty.
Bluetti AC180
1,152Wh · 1,800W · 2,700W surge
Slightly larger capacity for extra runtime margin, plus turbo AC charging.
